Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking an O&M Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive long-term cost estimates for solar and BESS projects. You will analyze specs and RFPs, collaborate with BD, PMs and engineers, and ensure timely, precise estimates.

This fully remote role involves coordinating with teams and maintaining price databases. The position emphasizes improving estimating tools, meeting bidding deadlines, and keeping current with industry practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or architectural field.
• Working knowledge of utility scale solar and BESS standard equipment and operation.
• Electrical and/or utility scale solar or BESS Operations and Maintenance experience is a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years of estimating experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings.
• Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Word, Outlook)
• Exceptional Excel skills

Responsibilities

• Review RFP documents, project plans, specifications to prepare detailed cost estimates.
• Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing.
• Accurately identify and quantify equipment and OEM requirements.
• Meet and maintain bidding schedules.
• Participate in estimate reviews.
• Work with subcontractors to define and get costs for minor scopes of work.
• Maintain vendor relationships to stay current on new equipment models and changes in manuals which may affect pricing.
• Identify risks involved in the projects and assist in risk matrix and go/no-go decisions.
• Meet with SMEs to validate new equipment labor metrics and update estimate templates.
• Maintain and update cost databases and estimating software or templates.
• Develop and maintain estimate version management process.
• Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
