Job summary

NRG Energy, Inc. seeks a NERC Compliance/Electrical Specialist to support the O&P Compliance Program under the Regulatory Compliance Manager. You will analyze protection systems settings, model generator performance, and assist with audits to ensure adherence to NERC standards across the fleet.

The role involves cross-functional collaboration, field travel to power plants, and ensuring documentation is complete and up to date to maintain reliability and compliance in our operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in power plant operations and electrical/instrument systems.
• 5–10 years of NERC compliance program experience.
• Solid understanding of NERC O&P standards and regulations.
• Ability to communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Assess and document protection system settings for NERC PRC compliance.
• Review maintenance results and recommend corrective actions.
• Support modeling tests at power plants for NERC MOD compliance.
• Analyze plant data to ensure ratings align with NERC FAC, TPL & VAR.
• Maintain documentation of NERC O&P compliance work.
• Stay current with evolving NERC O&P regs and guidelines.
• Collaborate with Legal Compliance, plant, ops, and construction to integrate NERC into projects.
• Assist in preparing for regional NERC O&P audits.
• Help resolve emergent generator issues including excitation systems.
