Job summary

NRG Energy seeks a Senior NERC Compliance/Electrical Specialist to support the NERC Operations and Planning program across multiple plants. The role involves analyzing protection systems, modeling generator performance, and aiding design changes while serving as an SME during audits.

You will travel periodically to power plant locations and work with Legal Regulatory Compliance, plant operations, and construction teams to embed NERC compliance in projects and training.

Qualifications

• Experience in power plant operations and maintenance.
• Five to ten years with NERC compliance programs.
• Solid understanding of NERC O&P standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Technically assess and document protection system settings for NERC O&P compliance.
• Review protection system maintenance results and recommend corrective actions.
• Support modeling tests at power plants for NERC MOD compliance.
• Analyze plant data to ensure ratings and performance align with NERC FAC, TPL, and VAR standards.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of NERC O&P compliance work.
• Stay current with evolving NERC O&P regulations and guidelines.
• Collaborate with Legal, plant, market operations, and construction to integrate NERC into projects.
• Assist in preparing for NERC regional O&P audits and audit processes.
• Resolve emergent generator system issues including excitation and protection systems.
