Job summary

Great Lakes Learning Academy, operated under a contract with Connections Education LLC, is seeking an Academic Interventionist/Specialist. The role supports MTSS/RTI, coordinates push-in and pull-out interventions, and collaborates with general and special education staff to promote growth for students in need.

You will design and implement targeted strategies, monitor outcomes, and contribute to professional development and district/state compliance efforts throughout the school year.

Qualifications

• Must hold valid Michigan teaching certification in the required subject matter and grade band.
• Minimum of 5 years full-time successful teaching experience in the required subject matter and grade band.
• Michigan residency required.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Customer-focused approach with high flexibility.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Technologically proficient, especially with Microsoft Office products.
• Willingness to travel and attend in-person events, including State Testing, throughout the school year; overnight travel may be required.
• Occasional evening hours may be needed to support families.

Responsibilities

• Utilize data to help teachers identify students needing support and develop targeted interventions.
• Support teachers in documenting student progress.
• Facilitate SST processes with principals, support staff, parents, and instructional staff.
• Develop and use instructional and behavioral support tools.
• Gather universal assessment tools and develop progress monitoring assessments.
• Design systems to share MTSS best practices and track Tier 3 interventions.
• Collaborate with Special Education leadership to facilitate eligibility for services.
• Schedule and conduct RTI meetings, including virtual meetings.
• Plan RTI professional development opportunities and maintain online RTI resources.
• Assist with school improvement planning for struggling learners and IDEA/504 activities.
