Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking a Medical Physicist for a home-based role overseeing CT and MRI protocol development, particularly in cardiac imaging, and shaping a collaborative in-house physics program across the health system.

You will lead vendor partnerships, influence equipment purchases, develop imaging initiatives, and stay at the forefront of the field through conferences and professional development.

Qualifications

• MS in physics/health physics/radiological/medical physics or related field required.
• PhD preferred.
• Texas license in Medical Physics required.
• Board Certification by ABR or ABMS recognized board or equivalent.
• Clinical experience post graduate training preferred.
• Four (4) years of related experience preferred.
• Member of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine or related society.

Responsibilities

• Provides expertise in Diagnostic Radiological Physics and Medical Nuclear Physics.
• Serves as primary Radiation Safety Officer for X-Ray Certificate of Registration and RAM licenses.
• Develops radiation safety policies and procedures to minimize exposure.
• Oversees Equipment Performance Evaluations for imaging equipment (CT/MRI/DR), and troubleshoots image quality issues.
• Performs dosimetry and shielding calculations to meet regulatory standards.
• Collaborates with architects to ensure ALARA in facility design.
• Participates in quarterly radiology physics reviews and audits.
• Investigates radiation incidents and coordinates corrective actions.
• Oversees RPC and RSC meetings and contributes to committee work.
• Assists with ACR accreditation and regulatory surveys.
