Job summary

Reddit is seeking a Machine Learning Manager for Feed Relevance (Retrieval) to lead a high-impact ML engineering team building scalable retrieval systems powering Reddit’s personalized feeds for 120M+ daily users.

You will define the technical vision, roadmap, and mentor engineers, collaborating with ML platform, ranking, safety and product teams to improve retrieval quality and coverage while ensuring reliability and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• 2+ years leading ML or recommender-systems teams.
• Hands-on experience with large-scale production ML systems (recommender/embedding/indexing).
• Strong understanding of retrieval, ranking, personalization and measurement strategies.

Responsibilities

• Define Technical Vision & Strategy for Feed Retrieval and align with product and business goals.
• Translate goals into a focused team roadmap with prioritization across quality, inventory, experimentation, infra cost and reliability.
• Coach and develop your team to grow skills and impact.
• Oversee design, development and optimization of retrieval systems delivering high-quality candidates for feeds.
• Establish measurement and learning practices to understand retrieval quality and impact.
• Collaborate with ML platform, infrastructure, ranking, safety and product teams to build scalable, low-latency systems.
• Maintain high standards for performance, reliability, latency and cost efficiency.
• Partner with recruiting to attract and hire diverse ML engineers.
