Job summary

BV Teck is seeking a seasoned Microservices Architect to lead the design and evolution of large-scale microservices ecosystems on modern cloud-native stacks. The role emphasizes service decomposition, domain-driven design, resilience, observability, and security at scale.

The candidate will drive architecture reviews, mentor teams, and champion best practices across multiple squads while enabling safe evolution of services with a strong point of view on when microservices are appropriate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 12+ years of software engineering experience, with architecture experience.
• Deep expertise in microservices design and distributed systems patterns.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• Proficiency in Java, Go, or C#.
• Experience with API design and asynchronous messaging.
• Production experience with high-traffic, latency-sensitive systems.

Responsibilities

• Define microservices architecture standards and decomposition strategies.
• Modernize legacy monoliths into independently deployable services.
• Design service communication patterns (REST, gRPC, asynchronous messaging).
• Establish API contracts, governance, and versioning.
• Architect resilient distributed systems with patterns like circuit breakers and retries.
• Define data ownership and patterns (outbox, saga, CQRS).
• Lead platform capabilities like service mesh and API gateway.
• Drive performance, capacity planning, and scalability analysis.
• Implement CI/CD and testing standards for high-frequency releases.
• Define observability standards (logging, tracing, SLOs).
• Collaborate with security teams on zero-trust and secrets management.
• Mentor engineers on microservices best practices.
• Lead architecture reviews across multiple teams.
• Evaluate emerging cloud-native technologies.
