Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC) seeks a part-time Mental Health Specialist II for the NJ Hopeline. You will receive calls, chats, and texts, assess needs, provide supportive interventions, and refer to appropriate services within the 988 Lifeline network.

The role emphasizes recovery-oriented skills, collaboration with staff, accurate documentation, and timely response. Evening hours are required; 16 hours per week with potential for remote work depending on program needs.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of relevant full-time paid experience in a mental health field or a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant mental health, social or human services field.
• Ability to work Saturdays and Sundays 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM and holidays.

Responsabilités

• Models effective communication, recovery-oriented living skills, coping strategies and self-help techniques.
• Accepts service requests and responds to calls, chats and texts within prescribed timeframe.
• Maintains knowledge of resources and programs to provide guidance and referrals.
• Performs assessments and makes appropriate dispositions based on feedback and referrals.
• Collaborates with staff and referral sources for disposition.
• Documents all client contact in the unit’s system per protocols.
