Job summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care, is seeking a Peer Support Specialist II (Part Time) for the 988 Lifeline Services within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.

The Peer Support Specialist provides engagement, support, and assessment for callers that meet quality and quantity standards, offering peer support and appropriate referrals or disposition via phone, chat, or text.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is the minimum education.
• Four years of full-time experience in the mental health care field.
• Self-identified current or former user with personal recovery experience and at least one year of peer-support experience.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with clients in a therapeutic manner.
• Ensures all service requests are handled in a caller-friendly manner.
• Assesses service requests/referrals and responds per procedures.
• Assesses client condition to authorize disposition.
• Maintains professional communications with outside agencies and professionals.
• Owns call/chat/text disposition and related documentation.
