Job summary

Democratic Socialists of America is seeking an experienced candidate for a Membership Growth and Retention position. This role reports to the Development Director and work closely with staff to manage requests from members.

Responsibilities include coordinating national and regional dues drives, supporting chapters, processing member inquiries via Zendesk, and maintaining the membership database. You will track data, assist with events, and support fundraising efforts.

Qualifications

• Preferred 2 years experience in fundraising, development, or a related field.
• Preferred experience handling a ticketing system like Zendesk.
• Preferred experience with CRM or similar systems.
• Strong organizing and project management skills.
• Ability to work efficiently and on tight deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with member leaders from varying political viewpoints underneath DSA’s big tent.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a non-traditional leadership structure, adapting to changing political conditions and organizational needs.
• High level of accountability, responsibility, and dependability.
• Ability to travel on occasion.
• Commitment to democratic socialist, feminist, anti-racist, anti-ableist and pro-worker action, and identify as a socialist and be grounded in democratic socialist politics; general agreement with the positions and perspectives of DSA.
• Experience working in a membership-led organization and/or with member leaders that direct the work (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate national dues drives and membership drives with the Development Director and national committees.
• Support chapters by working with Regional Organizers on dues drives and membership drives.
• Assist on fundraising initiatives as needed.
• Organize membership text banks and phone banks with relevant committees.
• Process member requests and inquiries via Zendesk and maintain the membership database.
• Track membership data and create data reports.
• Provide support for national events as needed.
• Provide administrative support to the Development Director as needed.
