Job summary

Piedmont HealthCare, PA is seeking an experienced Medication Access & Adherence Specialist to support timely medication access and improve patient outcomes. The role focuses on prior authorization processing and proactive patient outreach to promote adherence.

Responsibilities include PA submissions, status tracking, patient education, and collaboration with providers, pharmacies, and insurers. Remote work with a dedicated home office is supported.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in prior authorization, healthcare support, pharmacy, or patient outreach.
• Strong phone communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with EMR/EHR systems and pharmacy platforms.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• HEDIS quality measures experience preferred.
• Clinical setting experience preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership, advocacy, and communication.
• Cultural sensitivity and responsiveness to diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Review, prepare, and submit prior authorization requests to insurers.
• Track status and follow up to prevent therapy delays.
• Document PA activities in the appropriate systems.
• Identify alternative therapies when coverage is limited.
• Make outbound calls to support adherence and persistence.
• Educate patients on proper medication use and adherence.
• Identify barriers to adherence and provide solutions.
• Coordinate refills and reminders for continuity of care.
• Serve as liaison between patients, providers, pharmacies, and insurers.
• Assist with benefits investigation and financial assistance when applicable.
• Support care teams with adherence and access insights.
• Attend PHC functions and perform administrative duties as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
