Qualifications

• High School Graduate/GED required.
• Minimum one year of experience in a healthcare environment.
• Experience in data entry, customer service, collections and medical terminology preferred.
• Possesses understanding of third-party requirements and healthcare billing.
• Knowledge of regulations and HIPAA privacy standards is strongly preferred.
• Medical Terminology/Health Insurance Navigation.
• Computer proficiency to include word processing and patient accounting system.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills required.
• Service-oriented/customer-centric.
• Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Accurately schedules patients for outpatient procedures per scheduling guidelines.
• Guides physician, office staff and patient through scheduling process.
• Confirms appointments by contacting physicians and/or patients as needed.
• Coordinates with other areas to ensure resource coverage.
• Manages patient pre-registration experience and prep requirements.
• Completes pre-registrations with high accuracy to department quality goals.
• Obtains insurance information to expedite verification/authorization/pre-certification.
• Enters data accurately into computer systems.
• Verifies insurance and authorization requirements for all scheduled patients.
• Maintains pre-services documentation for regulatory compliance.
• Monitors reports to ensure timely scheduling and pre-registration.
