Formación

• One year of creditable experience indicating knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medical coding.
• Associate degree with a major in health information technology/health information management or related degree with 12 semester hours in health information management.
• Completion of AHIMA/AAPC certification or equivalent training may be substituted for experience.

Responsabilidades

• Abstract medical record data and assign codes using ICD, CPT, HCPCS systems.
• Review health records to ensure complete data capture and coding accuracy.
• Provide training to new staff on unit operations, coding, and EHR use.
• Maintain data transmission to the VA national database and use standard software tools.
