Job summary

Qualifications

• Expertise in ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS coding.
• Ability to review and abstract clinical data from health records to ensure accuracy of codes.
• Knowledge of DRG assignment and coding for inpatient/outpatient services.
• Proficiency with health information management systems and encoder software.

Responsibilities

• Select and assign codes from ICD-10-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT and HCPCS for inpatient/outpatient settings.
• Code complex medical/surgical procedures across diverse specialties.
• Review and abstract clinical data to support coding decisions.
• Assign DRG, CPT/HCPCS codes to reflect services rendered.
• Abstract, assign, and sequence codes to obtain correct reimbursement.
• Ensure audit findings are corrected and refiled.
• Consult with clinical staff for data clarification.
