The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Medical Records Technician (Coder-Outpatient and Inpatient) to code and abstract medical data within the Orlando VA Healthcare System.

This role utilizes ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding, with emphasis on accurate, compliant documentation and data submission to VA databases. Responsibilities include coding complex patient encounters, abstracting data, and ensuring timely, accurate records while maintaining privacy standards.

Formación

• Knowledge of ICD, CPT, HCPCS coding conventions and guidelines.
• Ability to abstract information from health records and identify pertinent data.
• Understanding of health information privacy regulations (HIPAA) and legal medical documentation.

Responsabilidades

• Assign codes for inpatient and professional encounters across the VA system.
• Apply ICD, CPT, HCPCS coding systems with accurate code selection.
• Review health records to ensure complete and accurate data for national VA database.
• Collaborate with supervisors to resolve coding questions and ensure timely completion.
