Job summary

The University of Missouri is seeking a Medical Coding Specialist to review clinical documentation and assign ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT codes to ensure compliant, optimum reimbursement. This role supports remote work with standard daytime hours.

Qualified candidates will have a coding certification and at least one year of coding experience; certifications like CPC/CCS-P are preferred. Salary is commensurate with experience and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Completion of a coding certification program or equivalent training to obtain ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and CPT-4 coding.
• One year of related medical records coding experience may be substituted.
• Certification within one year: CCA, CCS, RHIT, RHIA, CPC/CPC-A, COC/COC-A, CIC/CIC-A or ROCC.

Responsibilities

• Review complex clinical documentation to assign ICD-10-CM, CPT and CPT-4 codes and modifiers.
• Ensure accurate coding to maximize reimbursement and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with insurance and government payers to obtain retroactive authorizations for surgical services.
• Adhere to organizational policies including Quality Assurance and remote work standards.
