Job summary

ThedaCare Physician Services in Wisconsin offers a full-time remote coding role focused on accurate surgical and professional service coding. This role supports education, audits, and adherence to coding guidelines, with opportunities to mentor team members and influence documentation quality.

Located in Neenah Center area, 40 hours/week, fully remote preferred, with experience in hospital coding, inpatient/outpatient charges, and HCC coding valued.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in general medical or specialty coding.
• Coding certification(s) required or preferred (AAPC/AHIMA).
• Proficient in CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS coding standards.

Responsibilities

• Review and assign CPT procedures and diagnosis codes for professional services, including E/M and surgical cases.
• Educate providers on documentation improvement opportunities.
• Conduct internal documentation audits to ensure ThedaCare compliance.
• Perform internal reviews in response to payer data summaries or investigations.
• Create mitigation plans to reduce future coding risk and denials.
• Manage coding inventory, payer denials, and claim edits to ensure timely reimbursement.
• Research policy changes and communicate with payers; mentor and train team members.

Education

Coding certificate or associate’s degree in medical business or coding/health information

Dual certifications through AAPC and/or AHIMA
