Job summary

METHODIST MANSFIELD MEDICAL CENTER is seeking a qualified medical coder to review documentation and assign CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes for professional services, including OB/GYN and other surgical procedures. The role emphasizes accuracy, adherence to CMS guidelines, and education of providers to ensure compliant coding.

The coder will manage specialty work queues, address coding inquiries, and collaborate with the Coding Manager to support timely payer submissions and high-quality

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree asset.
• Two years of professional coding experience or one year plus two years HCC experience.
• Strong knowledge of CMS manuals, federal and regulatory guidelines and correct coding policies.
• Independently disciplined in time management and productivity.
• Experience in EMR software, preferably Epic, and Microsoft Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Review medical record documentation for accurate CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding for professional services.
• Assign modifiers and units for claim submission; support queries with written explanations to educate providers.
• Handle specialty queues (e.g., Maternal Fetal Medicine, OB/GYN, Trauma, Orthopedics, GI/Bariatrics, Transplant, Cardiology, ENT, Radiation Oncology, General Surgery).
• Participate in education programs and department meetings; maintain 90% coding accuracy and required production.
