Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred in HIM.
• CCS or CPC certification required.
• Minimum of 2 years of medical coding experience, remote preferred.
• Proficient with ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding systems.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills; proficient with Microsoft Office and EMR.
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records to assign diagnostic and procedure codes accurately.
• Ensure codes comply with coding guidelines and regulations.
• Clarify documentation with providers as needed.
• Collaborate with billing to ensure timely claims submission.
• Stay current with coding guideline changes and audits.
• Participate in coding audits and provide improvement feedback.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA.
• Work with team to resolve coding issues and meet productivity targets.
• Handle other duties as assigned.
