Job summary

National Jewish Health seeks a Medical Coding Specialist to accurately code inpatient and outpatient services from medical records. You will audit documentation, query providers for clarity, and ensure correct CPT and ICD coding with proper modifiers.

This fully remote role requires Colorado residency and emphasizes compliance with CMS and AHA guidelines. Ideal candidates have 1+ year physician coding or medical records experience and relevant certifications such as CPC/CCS-P.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree in Health Information Technology, Medical or Business field preferred.
• A minimum of one year physician coding or medical records experience required. CPC/COC/CCA/CCS/CCS-P or RHIT certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and audits documentation for verification of type and level of professional services rendered using current CPT coding rules.
• Queries providers and staff when documentation is missing or unclear for coding purposes.
• Summarizes audit findings and assists supervisor in providing training to providers on coding and documentation requirements.
• Reviews and assigns CPT codes and modifiers for procedures performed, ensuring accurate coding.
