Job summary

KurzSolutions is seeking a fully remote Medical Coder to support the Navajo Area Indian Health Service. You will code outpatient and ambulatory encounters using ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, CDT and DSM codes for multiple service units from home, with RPMS/PCC access and government-provided orientation.

The role emphasizes maintaining high accuracy, adherence to CMS guidelines, and timely turnaround within five business days, across a broad case mix including primary care and behavioral health.

Qualifications

• Active AHIMA or AAPC certification appropriate to outpatient and ambulatory coding.
• Two or more years of recent outpatient or ambulatory coding experience.
• Experience in RPMS, Indian Health Service EHR or PCC, or RPMS orientation is provided for coders new to the system.
• Comfortable holding a 95 percent audited accuracy standard and a five business day turnaround.

Responsibilities

• Code outpatient and ambulatory encounters in the Indian Health Service EHR using ICD-10-CM to the highest level of specificity supported by the documentation.
• Assign CPT, HCPCS Level II, CDT and DSM procedure codes as applicable to the encounter type.
• Assign Evaluation and Management levels under current CMS documentation guidelines.
• Apply modifiers consistent with NCCI edits and applicable Local Coverage Determinations.
• Review pharmacy, radiology and laboratory ancillary services and merge them into encounters under Indian Health Service coding policy.
• Enter all coded data into RPMS/PCC, including visit elements required for GPRA and Promoting Interoperability reporting.
