Job summary

University Health is seeking a Coder I to turn clinical notes into precise ICD-10-CM, procedure, and E/M codes. After onboarding, the role becomes fully remote with occasional onsite training.

You will handle professional services across multiple specialties, ensuring compliant coding per AMA and CMS guidelines. The ideal candidate holds an associate degree or equivalent, active CPC-A/COC-A/RHIT/RHIA certification, and solid knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and payer workflows.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent education/experience.
• Active coding certification: CPC-A, COC-A, RHIT, or RHIA.
• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and third-party payers.
• Experience with medical billing systems and coding rules.
• Proficient with EHRs and billing platforms.
• Strong attention to detail and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Translate clinical notes into ICD-10-CM and E/M codes.
• Review professional services across multiple medical specialties and assign correct codes.
