Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years coding experience or formal coding education.
• Certifications: CCS_AHIMA, CCA_AHIMA or CPC_AAPC required.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient medical records and assigns ICD-10-CM or CPT-4 codes.
• Applies sequencing guidelines to coded data.
• Reviews medical records to ensure proper documentation.
• Stay current with federal/state guidelines affecting coding.
• Communicate coding questions to Coding Manager or Revenue Integrity Department.
• Collaborate with medical staff to resolve coding issues.
• Report suspected coding inaccuracies promptly.
