Job summary

Sanford Health Careers is seeking a professional medical coder to support providers in coding for ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS. You will review medical records, ensure documentation supports coding and reimbursement, and act as a subject matter expert in coding guidelines.

The role requires RHIA/RHIT or CPC-family certifications with a commitment to obtain any missing credential within one year. Remote MN location with full-time schedule; strong analytical skills and ability to work

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Health Information Technology or coding certification explicitly required.
• Licensure/certifications listed include RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CPC-A, CCS, CCS-P, CCS-H, CCS Healthcare, COC with requirement to obtain within one year if not already held.

Responsibilities

• Interpret, analyze and abstract data/documentation for medical coding.
• Ensure ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS coding accuracy and compliance.
• Review medical records and support reimbursement with proper coding.
• Educate physicians and staff on coding guidelines and documentation improvements.
• Audit documentation to substantiate service charges and compliance.

Education
