Job summary

Sarah Bush Lincoln seeks a Coder – Professional to audit and assign ICD-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for encounters. Remote or on-site work is available; 40 hours/week. Requires a high school diploma and coding certifications (CCA/CCS/CPC/RHIT/RHIA) with CPC within 1 year.

Responsibilities include auditing EM codes, educating staff, obtaining required documentation, and ensuring compliant, high-quality coding for reimbursement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• CCA/CCS/CPC/RHIT/RHIA certifications required within hire/1 year.
• Experience with ICD-CM, CPT, HCPCS coding and EM auditing would help.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and confirm encounters for EM code level using auditing tool.
• Request clarifications to support coding and documentation.
• Educate physicians and staff on documentation needed for coding.
• Contact offices or departments for diagnostic information to code encounters.
• Assist training of new coding staff.
• Code encounters across clinic, hospitalist, ED and ancillary services.
• Ensure data quality and maximize reimbursement under federal/state rules.
• Achieve 95% accuracy in diagnoses and procedures coded.
• Review and correct encounters that are rejected/denied.
• Review records to ensure complete diagnoses/procedures per ICD-CM and CPT.
