Job summary

Clearway Pain is seeking a Billing Specialist to support revenue collection by coding and entering patient and charge information, and by following up on outstanding claims. This remote role requires residing in MD, DE, VA, NJ, PA, FL, AL, GA, SC or TX.

Essential duties include resolving payer denials, handling appeals, researching payments, and maintaining A/R performance. Strong communication and CPT/ICD-10 knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 3+ years related experience or equivalent combination.
• Knowledge of Internet and MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent written and oral communication, including customer service.
• Ability to work with doctors, staff and public; strong teamwork.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and meet deadlines.
• Flexible schedule; multi-tasking and prioritization; attention to detail.
• Strong organization, problem-solving and professional conduct.
• Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding rules; basic insurance guidelines.
• Awareness of healthcare field terminology and specialties.
• Commitment to HIPAA and confidentiality; ongoing professional improvement.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and resolves payer denials, including appeals, coding corrections, and medical necessity rules.
• Analyzes and resolves billing issues, keeping A/R to no more than 10% over 60 days.
• Processes daily correspondence, claim status, handle denials, appeals and re-bills.
• Answers billing questions and inquiries from patients and internal staff.
• Updates patient files with address changes and contact information changes.
• Reviews policy changes and informs supervisor and charge entry staff.
• Efficiently navigates insurer websites to research policies and payments.
• Keeps supervisor apprised of accounts receivable matters.
• Responds to requests from billing company in a timely fashion.
• Researches denials and submits correct claims/medical documentation.
• Reviews and manages claims within dashboard holds for resolution.
• Creates, maintains and updates reports as directed.
• Maintains HIPAA confidentiality and participates in trainings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
