Job summary

Vail Health Hospital is seeking an experienced clinical assistant to support providers and care teams, manage patient records, and handle administrative duties. The role emphasizes accurate documentation in the EHR and timely communication with patients and clinicians.

Required are knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA compliance, and 2 years of related experience, with CMA/AMT-based certifications or state licenses as listed. Colorado-based postings may apply remotely where allowed.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of medical terminology, medical equipment, HIPAA compliance, and OSHA rules and regulations required.
• 2 years of experience with applicable patient care and administrative duties preferred

Responsibilities

• Fields patient phone calls and voicemails promptly and in a professional manner.
• Addresses patient portal and EHR messages through the drop box within an acceptable timeframe.
• Communicates with necessary provider or team member regarding patient questions and concerns.
• Receives patient refill requests and processes appropriately based on workflow factors.
• Sends refill requests to the provider with necessary information if needed.
• Manages provider’s patient portal messages within the EHR.
• Closes loop with patient on requests, questions, results, or concerns.
• Ensures accuracy and proper documentation in the patient’s electronic health record.
• Communicates with clinical care team as needed.
• Models the Just Culture and Organizational Values; HIPAA compliant.
