Bookoff McAndrews (BoMc) is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Patent Attorney with 2+ years of experience to join our firm. This is a remote position. If candidates reside in the DC area, they are welcome to come into our DC office as often (or as little) as they like.

We are a premier patent counseling firm providing high-quality work and a collaborative culture. The good-faith base salary range for this position is $165,000 - $250,000, plus competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or significant experience working in mechanical engineering.
• 2+ years of patent prosecution experience focused on mechanical engineering.
• Positive attitude toward client service.
• Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and professional service skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to multi-task, manage multiple priorities, and work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Meet with inventors and draft patent applications for filing in the USPTO; prosecuting patent applications before the USPTO, including interviewing Examiners; working collaboratively with clients and other BoMc attorneys to develop and refine claim strategies;
• Proactively managing a docket of cases the attorney has primary responsibility for, across a blend of clients from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies;
• Assisting with other prosecution/counseling matters including: drafting noninfringement and invalidity opinions; and conducting due diligence investigations and performing freedom-to-operate and landscape analyses under the supervision of the firm’s partners; and
• Post-grant proceedings before the USPTO, including Inter Partes Reviews.
