Job summary

Redtree is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support front-end planning, detailed design, and construction administration for power generation projects, with a focus on coal and natural gas-fired plants, and related balance-of-plant systems. This role covers the full engineering lifecycle and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams across new-build and modernization efforts.

This is a fast-growing engineering firm offering broad exposure across sectors, with 100% remote work within the U.S.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Power generation facility design experience: coal and natural gas fired.
• Knowledge of hydraulic calculations, pump sizing, valve selection.
• P&ID development familiarity.
• Understanding of mechanical and environmental/air quality codes.
• Strong communication and coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel 10-20%.

Responsibilities

• Perform front-end planning and preliminary design for mechanical systems at power facilities.
• Design and size mechanical equipment and piping systems including pumps and tanks.
• Develop and review P&IDs for pumps, vessels, and tanks.
• Support ELG management and air quality system concerns for facilities.
• Prepare final design packages with specs meeting codes and standards.
• Manage teams of mechanical engineers on assigned activities.
• Coordinate with electrical, civil, structural, and PM/CM teams.
• Provide construction administration, field engineering, and startup support.
