Job summary

US Foods is seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Refrigeration (Remote) to design, analyze, and optimize industrial refrigeration systems across the enterprise. You will work on NH3, CO2 and Freon systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and controls.

You will develop standards, support safety and regulatory compliance (PSM/RMP/OSHA), and lead capital projects, commissioning, and troubleshooting. The role requires 5 years in industrial refrigeration, PE/EIT, and travel >25%.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
5+ years in industrial refrigeration with NH3 and Freon experience.
PE license or EIT status.
Strong knowledge of PSM/RMP and OSHA/EPA requirements.
Experience with capital projects, upgrades, commissioning.
Ability to read/interpret P&IDs and engineering docs.
Willingness to travel >25%.

Responsibilities

Design, review, and support industrial refrigeration systems using NH3, CO2, and Freon refrigerants.
Develop standards, specifications, and system documentation.
Evaluate performance and recommend safety and efficiency improvements.
Provide technical support for troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Collaborate with Design and Construction teams to set design standards.
Support PSM/RMP compliance, audits, and incident investigations.
Assist with capital projects, commissioning, and equipment optimization.
Create maintenance strategies and operating procedures.
Maintain P&IDs and technical documentation for audits.
