Placements24 is seeking a highly creative and experienced Remote Mechanical Design Engineer to drive product innovation from home. You will design, analyze, and prototype complex mechanical solutions for diverse products, collaborating with a distributed team of engineers, designers, and product managers.

The role emphasizes strong CAD/FEA skills, DFM/ DFA proficiency, and effective remote collaboration. You’ll manage multiple projects independently, stay current with materials and manufacturing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 5+ years in mechanical design and product development with portfolio
• Proficient in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion 360) and FEA
• Knowledge of injection molding, CNC, and 3D printing
• Independent work style for remote multi-projects
• Excellent written and verbal communication for remote collaboration
• Experience with design for manufacturing and assembly (DFM/ DFA)
• Demonstrated passion for product innovation

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design, and develop innovative mechanical products and components using advanced CAD software.
• Perform engineering analyses, including stress, thermal, and kinematic simulations, to validate design concepts and performance.
• Create detailed 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, and comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Collaborate effectively with remote team members, including product managers, electrical engineers, and software developers, via digital collaboration tools.
• Oversee or coordinate prototype development, testing, and validation processes remotely.
• Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and scalability across various production methods.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, materials, and design trends relevant to product innovation.
• Document design iterations, analysis results, and testing outcomes thoroughly.
• Contribute to brainstorming sessions and ideation processes for new product development.
