Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Master Network & Security Engineer to design, operate, troubleshoot, and improve enterprise network-security infrastructure. Focus areas include Palo Alto NGFWs, Panorama, HA, Cisco switching, and Cortex XSIAM integration.

Senior engineer acts as escalation point, partners with SOC and leadership teams to reduce risk while ensuring highly available services. This role is fully remote in the United States.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, security, and related operations.
• 6+ years hands-on Palo Alto Networks firewall experience in production environments.
• Operational expertise with Palo Alto Panorama and multi-device policy management.
• Strong experience with HA designs, synchronization, and failover recovery.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, deployment, administration and lifecycle of Palo Alto NGFW environments running PAN-OS.
• Own centralized firewall management through Palo Alto Panorama, templates and device groups.
• Design security policies using zero-trust, least-privilege and risk-based principles.
• Configure NAT, VPNs, decryption, URL Filtering, Threat Prevention, and App-ID policies.
• Lead network segmentation and microsegmentation with VLANs, routing controls, and policies.
• Develop secure controls for traffic between users, servers, apps, and cloud resources.
• Architect, test, and troubleshoot PAN-OS High Availability deployments.
