Job summary

Per Scholas seeks a Manager, Government Contracts & Compliance to lead holistic grant and contract management across federal, state, and city funding streams. You will ensure strong contract performance, regulatory compliance, and accurate revenue recognition, working with Program, Finance, Legal, and Leadership teams to maximize contract value and earned revenue.

The role focuses on safeguarding funding, strengthening internal processes, and ensuring operational excellence across the government

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, policy, business, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience managing government contracts, grants, or sponsored programs in nonprofit/public sector.
• Post-award grant administration, contract performance monitoring, and compliance oversight experience.
• Knowledge of revenue recognition for cost-reimbursement, milestone-based, and performance-based contracts.
• Experience preparing, reviewing, and executing funding agreements, subcontracts, and amendments.
• Familiarity with federal, state, and local government grant systems and portals.

Responsibilities

• Own an assigned portfolio of grants end-to-end: execution, funding agency communication, kickoff, monitoring, and renewal.
• Support negotiation and legal review on assigned awards, escalating high-risk terms to the Director.
• Review low-risk contract documents and escalate flagged terms to Director/Legal.
• Partner with Fiscal to ensure accurate revenue recognition per contract terms.
• Coordinate audit/monitoring responses within funder notice windows.
• Maintain tracking of deadlines, reporting schedules, and deliverables for assigned caseload.
• Communicate performance updates and risk to the Director in a timely manner.
• Coordinate with Fiscal, Development, and Managing Directors on assigned grants.
• Represent grants in monthly status and other meetings.
• Provide embedded compliance support to Program teams onboarding new awards.
