Job summary

Welo Data, part of Welocalize, seeks experienced linguists for a synthetic data generation program. You will review an English source with two Malayalam translations (Variant A and B) and select the best with a written justification, in a strictly blind, three-validator process.

This freelance remote role offers a 2-week commitment with a pay rate of $3.50/hour. You will assess accuracy, fluency, and overall quality, and complete samples within deadlines.

Qualifications

• Native-level fluency in Malayalam (written and spoken).
• Strong written communication in target language.
• Proficiency in English.
• Background in linguistics, translation, or language quality assessment preferred.
• Ability to work independently with high attention to detail and consistency.
• Familiarity with Romanized script conventions is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review English source documents alongside two machine-generated Malayalam translations.
• Evaluate both variants based on accuracy, fluency, and overall translation quality.
• Select the preferred translation and provide a written justification.
• Review audio files and their transcriptions, evaluating accuracy and completeness.
• Assess transcription quality and audio quality according to guidelines.
• Complete assigned samples independently and within timelines.
• Adhere strictly to project and client guidelines.
