Job summary

Sigma Technologies is seeking an experienced Make Ready Designer to support overhead utility pole design, joint-use engineering, and electric distribution projects. This remote opportunity focuses on make-ready work, pole conditions, NESC clearances, and construction-ready design packages.

Applicants should have 2+ years in make-ready or distribution design and be proficient with CAD/MicroStation and related platforms. A 2-week paid orientation will be held at our Perrysburg, Ohio headquarters.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree or higher in engineering, drafting, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in make-ready engineering, joint-use design, or electric power distribution design (3+ years preferred).
• Proven utility pole design experience including NESC application, clearance analysis, pole loading concepts, and construction-ready packages.
• Proficiency with CAD or MicroStation; experience with DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, or similar platforms is strongly preferred.
• Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and ability to pass background, drug, and MVR screenings.
• Authorization to work in the United States; willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Complete make-ready and overhead pole design work orders meeting quality, schedule, and budget.
• Review field data, pole information, attachments, and conditions.
• Evaluate joint-use attachments, NESC clearances, and required modifications.
• Develop construction-ready make-ready designs including pole transfers and guying.
• Apply NESC requirements, utility standards, and client design criteria.
• Perform end-to-end make-ready design and support related distribution design.
• Conduct permitting and easement research including pole ownership and ROW.
• Collaborate with teams to resolve design conflicts and field data discrepancies.
• Use DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, PoleForeman, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, and related systems.
• Perform quality-control reviews to ensure deliverables are accurate and complete.
