Job summary
Cognizant is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with deep COBOL-based mainframe expertise to support core banking systems including Deposits, Loans, Customer/Account Management, GL and Tax. You will design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications and batch jobs, while collaborating with business and tech teams to deliver reliable banking solutions.
Minimum 5+ years in mainframe development with COBOL/JCL/VSAM, knowledge of Endevor, Xpediter, and Easytrieve; CICS/IMS preferred.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on mainframe application development with COBOL, JCL, VSAM.
- Strong experience in core banking modules: deposits, loans, customer/account management, GL, tax.
- Experience with mainframe tools such as Endevor, Xpediter and Easytrieve.
- Knowledge of CICS and IMS is preferred.
- Experience supporting banking deployments and production environments.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, test and maintain mainframe apps for core banking operations.
- Analyze requirements and translate them into mainframe solutions.
- Develop and support batch jobs using COBOL, JCL, VSAM and related tools.
- Debug, troubleshoot, resolve defects and provide production support.
- Collaborate with analysts, architects, testers and stakeholders on enhancements.
- Participate in code reviews, SIT/UAT support and deployments.
