Job summary

CAI is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to join its IT team on a full-time, remote contract. The role centers on COBOL, NATURAL, JCL, and ADABAS with responsibilities spanning legacy modernization and data interfaces.

You will develop and maintain mainframe programs, troubleshoot issues, support testing and deployments, and contribute to system design reviews, technical planning, and documentation.

Qualifications

5+ years of enterprise mainframe experience with COBOL.
5+ years of JCL development and job scheduling.
3+ years with NATURAL/ADABAS.
5+ years using TSO/ISPF or equivalent tools.
3+ years with AFP, PAGEDEF, FORMDEF, OVERLAY.
Strong debugging and problem-solving for batch and online apps.
Experience with mainframe data interfaces and legacy systems.

Responsibilities

Develop, enhance, and maintain COBOL, NATURAL, and JCL programs.
Work on legacy mainframe apps and data interfaces with client systems.
Analyze applications, provide technical analysis and documentation.
Design, code, test, and maintain batch and online mainframe apps.
Troubleshoot production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
Support ADABAS databases, file structures, and data access methods.
Create data feeds, interfaces, and integration processes.
Participate in design reviews and code reviews.
Produce program specs, job flows, and architecture diagrams.
Support testing, UAT, and deployments.
