Job summary

CAI is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to support multiple client projects in a remote contract role. The ideal candidate will have advanced COBOL, JCL, NATURAL, and ADABAS expertise with strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.

Responsibilities include designing, coding, testing, and maintaining batch and online mainframe applications, integrating legacy systems with modern platforms, and providing technical guidance through code reviews and system design sessions.

Qualifications

5+ years of enterprise mainframe development using COBOL.
5+ years with JCL development and job scheduling.
3+ years with NATURAL/ADABAS.
5+ years experience with TSO/ISPF or similar tools.
3+ years with AFP, PAGEDEF, FORMDEF, OVERLAY.

Responsibilities

Develop, enhance, and maintain COBOL, NATURAL, and JCL programs for multiple client projects.
Work on legacy mainframe applications and integration with taxation/client systems.
Analyze existing apps, provide code walkthroughs, and document for modernization teams.
Design, code, test, and maintain batch and online mainframe apps.
Troubleshoot production issues, job failures, and abends; perform root-cause analysis.
