Job summary

System One is seeking a Mainframe Automation Specialist for a 100% remote, long-term W-2 contract. The role focuses on automating IBM z/OS environments, including CICS, Db2, IMS, and related subsystems, using REXX and policy-driven automation.

You will lead a team, drive best practices, and participate in on-call support for operational reliability. Requirements include strong problem-solving abilities, advanced REXX skills, and experience with IBM System Automation for z/OS, NetView, and

Qualifications

Investigate operational, technical, and business problems and propose automation solutions.
Strong communication to convey complex automation concepts clearly.
Experience with IBM System Automation for z/OS, including administration and policy development.
Advanced REXX programming for automation routines and scripts.
Experience with IBM NetView including automation tables, message automation, and event processing.
Proficiency across z/OS subsystems (CICS, Db2, IMS, JES2/JES3, MQ, TCP/IP).
Knowledge of Parallel Sysplex, JCL, SDSF, TSO/ISPF, and z/OS operations.
Experience with IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS, TWS, ZWS).
Familiarity with z/OS UNIX System Services, shell scripting, and UNIX processes.
Integration of automation with monitoring tools like OMEGAMON, ServiceNow, and Moogsoft.

Responsibilities

Investigate and resolve operational and technical problems related to mainframe systems and automation.
Communicate complex automation concepts clearly to technical teams and management.
Participate in an on-call rotation to support operational reliability.
Lead and mentor team members, promoting best practices and efficiency.
Administer and develop policies for IBM System Automation for z/OS and related tooling.
Develop enterprise automation solutions using REXX, processors, routines, and scripts.
Support automation across z/OS subsystems (CICS, Db2, IMS, JES2/JES3, MQ, TCP/IP).
Design automation for CICS availability, recovery, and health monitoring.
Utilize IWS/TWS/ZWS for workload automation and integrate with monitoring tools.
