Share Our Strength in Washington, DC area seeks a Manager of Local Government Relations to advance childhood hunger campaigns and strengthen government relations from local to federal levels.

Based in Washington, DC or remote for the right candidate, the role collaborates with the Mayors Alliance, engages mayors and staff, and drives policy change through partnerships with local officials and associations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
• 3–5 years of relevant local government, government relations, or public policy experience.
• Demonstrated experience with local elected officials and government associations.
• Interest in anti-hunger and anti-poverty issues.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of the Mayors Alliance, onboarding mayors, newsletters, events, and communications.
• Support tracking of trends affecting local officials to inform strategies.
• Represent Share Our Strength to external audiences and advance diversity and inclusion initiatives.
• Travel up to 30% as needed to fulfill partnerships and policy activities.
