Job summary

A Step Ahead Counseling Center is seeking a licensed mental health therapist for a full-time, fully remote telehealth role serving a diverse client base in New York. You will conduct assessments, provide individual, family and group therapy, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to optimize outcomes.

Ideal candidates hold an advanced degree and NY licensure (LMFT/LMHC/LCSW/LCSW-R) with strong cultural competence and crisis intervention skills.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, MFT, MHC, or Psychology from an accredited program.
• Current NY license (LMFT/LMHC/LCSW/LCSW-R) required.
• Strong cultural competence and experience with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments that consider cultural and personal backgrounds to tailor treatment plans.
• Implement evidence-based interventions, adapting techniques to individual needs and backgrounds.
• Lead individual, family, and group therapy sessions to address varied mental health concerns.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other health professionals for coordinated care.
• Provide crisis intervention and manage immediate risks when needed.
• Educate clients and families about conditions, options, and community resources.
• Maintain confidential documentation in line with legal/ethical standards.
• Participate in case conferences and team meetings to share insights and updates.
• Pursue ongoing professional development through cultural competency training and research updates.
