Job summary

ESPN Productions, Inc. in Bristol, CT seeks a Supervising Director to oversee remote and event productions, guiding Directors and Stage Managers across departments. You will collaborate with Coordinating Producers on content philosophy and execution while maintaining ESPN’s high presentation standards.

Qualifications include 7+ years directing, strong live directing expertise, and proficiency with production equipment. Travel may be required; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

• Minimum 7 years directing experience with leadership/mentorship.
• In-depth knowledge and proficiency with live directing.
• In-depth knowledge and proficiency with production equipment and facilities.
• Strong ability to think and react quickly to rapidly changing situations in a high pressure environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Oversight of multiple remote and REMI production projects.
• Collaborates with production partners to launch productions and maintain standards, plus identifies workflows to suit changing business needs.
• Organizes and leads meetings for assigned projects, both within and across departments, to develop production and operational strategies.
• Proficient with all aspects of set design, animation packages, show budgets and remote planning.
• Has expert ability to direct the broadest possible range of productions including ESPN’s highest profile shows.
• Responsible for staff oversight with concentration toward Associate Directors and Stage Managers.
• Provides consistent and comprehensive feedback to Directors, Associate Directors and Stage Managers.
• Establishes regular feedback and review sessions with all members of Directing.
• Participates in the weekly Directing management meeting.
• Leads teams to drive innovation and new workflows that embrace technology.
• Builds monthly schedules for Directors, Associate Directors and Stage Managers.
• Identifies, implements and tracks staff development opportunities.
• Contributes to the team’s recruitment and retention objectives.
• Holds staff accountable to maintain the Directing Department performance standards.
