Job summary

Swipejobs is seeking an experienced attorney, claims professional, or litigation cost management specialist to review, audit, and edit outside counsel invoices. The focus is on billing compliance, accurate coding, and cost containment across litigation matters, including general liability and motor vehicle claims.

This contract role is remote (EST preferred), with flexible schedule up to 30-35 hours per week, starting ASAP, for 3+ months with potential extension, and pay at $80–$85 per hour.

Qualifications

• Licensed attorney with litigation experience or substantial experience auditing outside counsel invoices.
• Experience applying litigation billing guidelines and legal spend management.
• Strong understanding of NY litigation activities and billing practices.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Outlook and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Review and audit outside counsel invoices for accuracy and compliance.
• Identify excessive, duplicate, administrative, vague, block-billed, or non-compliant charges.
• Evaluate staffing levels and timekeeper utilization.
• Recommend billing reductions and invoice edits.
• Identify legal spend trends and cost-saving opportunities.
• Communicate with outside counsel regarding billing issues and revisions.
• Maintain audit records and generate spend reports.
• Partner with legal and claims teams to enforce consistent billing practices.
