Qualifications

• 3+ years of prior legal assistant experience supporting litigators in civil defense.
• MI State and Federal Court filing including E-Filing experience required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• High School Diploma or its equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Filing and circulation of pleadings in both state and federal court.
• Maintain docketing for attorneys including assisting with calculation of court and discovery deadlines in accordance with state and federal rules.
• Provide administrative support to attorneys including processing invoices, coordinating scheduling of depositions, and ensuring compliance with client preferences.
• Assist with opening new files including gathering preliminary documents and information from clients.
• Assist attorneys with management of schedules including coordinating travel and scheduling meetings.
• Prepare correspondence and other written documents under attorney direction.
• Prepare and handle tracking and disposition of subpoenas or other requests for information.
• Assure organization of files including maintenance and management.
• Monitor files and elevate issues requiring attorney involvement.
