Job summary

GLS is seeking an experienced Lithuanian-to-English or English-to-Lithuanian translator and editor to support ongoing document translation and editing assignments.

This remote, freelance independent contractor role involves translating and editing a variety of official documents, including vital records, legal documents, official certificates, and academic transcripts. Assignments will be provided on an as-needed basis and may require quick turnaround timelines.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship and current residence in the United States required.
• Native or highly proficient Lithuanian and English.
• Bachelor’s degree in translation, linguistics, language studies preferred.
• 2–5 years of translation and/or editing experience.
• Ability to meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality.
• Provide per-word rates for translation and editing.

Responsibilities

• Translate Lithuanian to English or English to Lithuanian.
• Edit and review translations for accuracy, grammar, and formatting.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow client-specific instructions.
• Meet deadlines, including 1–2 day turnarounds when required.
