Job summary

Wood is seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer for our Life Sciences business in a remote capacity. You will lead HVAC design efforts, develop construction drawings, and evaluate equipment for energy systems in life science labs and manufacturing plants.

The role emphasizes design leadership, field assessment, and interaction with clients. Requires 5–10 years of experience, a BS in Mechanical Engineering (ABET), and ability to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited school.
• 5-10 years of facility HVAC design experience.
• Able to generate own drawing packages with AutoCAD and Revit.
• Knowledge of codes and industry standards (NFPA, International Codes, FMDS, ASHRAE).
• Able to write design analyses, specifications, estimate project costs, and estimate construction schedule duration.
• Able to travel by air & ground, climbing ladders.
• Must pass drug screen, background check, and have satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical design packages within defined schedule and budget requirements.
• Executes facility mechanical engineering HVAC designs according to codes and standards.
• Meet with clients, present for HVAC progress, design options and 3D model reviews.
• Performs facility system assessment field work.
• Generates workload plans, design analyses, drawings, specifications, HVAC calculations.
• Supports proposals generation (FEL1-3, Detailed Design).
• Significant CAD work with AutoCAD and Revit.
• Reviews work of and guides junior engineers.
• Review equipment and material submittals for adequacy and compliance with documents.
