Job summary

IPS-Integrated Project Services seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer for our Blue Bell, PA or Somerset, NJ offices. You will lead HVAC design on life sciences facilities and coordinate with project teams from concept through detailed design, while mentoring engineers.

The role requires 8–10 years in building design, a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and proficiency with AutoCAD/Revit, load calculations, and energy analysis. PE is preferred; travel up to 20%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year College or University.
• Expertise in engineering design programs and computer-aided drafting (AutoCAD/Revit).
• Thorough knowledge of Mechanical (HVAC) system design and applicable codes.
• Experience with software for performing load calculations and energy analysis.
• 2-4 years of experience overseeing engineers and designers on project teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of HVAC systems, including air distribution, piping, pumps, steam, condensate, central plants, AHUs, dehumidification, and control systems.
• Prepare engineering studies and schematic design for new mechanical systems and analyze existing systems.
• Evaluate HVAC and utility generation systems for renovation projects.
• Lead mechanical design as part of an overall team or as Project Lead across all phases from Feasibility to Detailed Design.
• Define scope of work, budget, and staffing with the Project Manager.
• Coordinate with code officials and other design professionals when building code interpretations are required.
• Review progress, provide markups for drawings, and manage client communications.
