Job summary

CRB Group in Rockville, MD is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design HVAC and mechanical utility systems for buildings. You will perform load calculations, energy modeling, prepare P&IDs, equipment specifications, and coordinate with design teams and trade partners.

Ideal candidates hold an ABET-accredited Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering, have at least three years of experience, and FE exam.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (mechanical focus).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience.
• Fundamentals of Engineering exam completion.
• Basic experience with HVAC, mechanical utility and piping system designs.

Responsibilities

• Interfaces with clients and external partners.
• Develops design and construction drawing packages and edits construction specifications on basic projects with oversight.
• Participates in squad checks and contributes to quality deliverables.
• Designs mechanical systems (airside, chilled/hot water, steam, etc.) in conformance with codes.
• Performs envelope and load calculations and other engineering calculations as required.
• Sizes mechanical equipment, ductwork and piping; develops system schematics.
• Mentors Mechanical Designer I.
• Supports construction activities (RFIs, submittals, punch lists).
• Collaborates with senior engineers on deliverables.
• Handles intermediate tasks under supervision.
• Expands knowledge to more complex mechanical systems over time.
