Job summary

Mutual of Omaha Insurance Co. is seeking an Underwriter I to assess smaller, less complex life insurance cases. You will review applications for new policies, reinstatements, and changes, evaluating risk and confirming adherence to guidelines to approve within your limits.

Hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm CST with flexible time after training. The role offers an hourly wage with a bonus possibility and a strong 401(k) plan, plus remote work eligibility for candidates in the United States

Qualifications

• Strong customer-facing skills and professional communication.
• Previous underwriting or case-management experience preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail and sound decision making.
• Comfort using Microsoft Office and standard business tools.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Willing to grow your underwriting career in a collaborative team.
• Remote work eligibility with high-speed internet in the United States or Puerto Rico.

Responsibilities

• Review life insurance applications and changes for smaller, less complex cases.
• Gather and assess data to evaluate risk and support decisions.
• Apply underwriting guidelines accurately with supervision as needed.
• Communicate clearly with internal teams and brokers.
• Balance workload in a high-production environment.
• Participate in daily management activities and process improvements.
