    • Underwriter III: $68,000 - $87,500, plus annual bonus opportunity.
    • Underwriter IV: $86,000 - $114,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.
    • Underwriter V: $99,000 - $133,500, plus annual bonus opportunity.
  • 401(k) plan with a 2% company contribution and 6% company match.
  • Work-life balance with vacation, personal time and paid holidays. See our benefits and perks page for details.
  • Applicants for this position must not now, nor at any point in the future, require sponsorship for employment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Develop and maintain underwriting rules: Support rule development and enhancements to ensure alignment with company guidelines, regulatory requirements, and reinsurance standards.
  • Research and identify improvement opportunities: Analyze underwriting trends, vendor capabilities, and process gaps to recommend and implement rule changes that improve automation and customer experience.
  • Create and manage reporting: Build and maintain reports related to Express and automated underwriting performance, providing insights to stakeholders for decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with vendors and partners: Maintain and support vendor tools used in automated underwriting, ensuring functionality, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Act as a subject matter expert: Apply underwriting knowledge to validate rule logic, troubleshoot issues, and provide guidance to peers and partners on automated underwriting processes.
  • Drive innovation and efficiency: Partner with underwriting, claims, and technology teams to advance automation initiatives, streamline workflows, and enhance operational effectiveness.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
  • Individual underwriting experience: Demonstrated life insurance underwriting experience, with a strong foundation in Individual Underwriting concepts, practices, and tools (e.g., MIB, reinsurance manuals, automated decisioning platforms).
  • Underwriting rules & automation experience: Hands-on experience supporting or maintaining underwriting rules, decision logic, or automated underwriting tools, with an understanding of how guidelines, regulations, and reinsurance requirements come together.
  • Strong risk assessment skills: Proven ability to analyze complex medical and financial risk, investigate concerns, and justify underwriting decisions using sound judgment.
  • Attention to detail and organization: Ability to manage multiple concurrent cases, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
  • Clear communication and collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships across underwriting, operations, and business partners.
  • You promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, value different ideas and opinions, and listen courageously, remaining curious in all that you do.
  • Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.
PREFERRED:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience and FLMI, FALU, or CLU courses completed for designation or being actively pursued.
  • Experience with Accelerated Underwriting program.
  • Experience with Long Term Care underwriting.
